Will USDA loans allow you to fix termite damage to a home?

I’m trying to get a USDA loan for a house. Everything checked out except for the termites under the house. There are none left, but the center main beam has been badly damaged, has to be jacked up and replaced. If I paid for it would they allow me to fix it?

Yes, but you need to detail the costs and have it included up-front. Thus is because most older houses have some signs of past termite activity. I do not know whether they’ll let you repair a critical framing member but I doubt it since if you mess it up, they’ve done their money. You might do a deal with a contractor to have you perform part of the works . . . just as long as the contractor is held responsible.
